ABSTRACT

The development of IT and its acceptance in all fields of activity rose new challenges and possibilities, regarding the improvement of health state using wearable devices. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the IT adoption for working at distance, e-working or working at home. Such, the workers care under the envision of professional diseases prevention and dangerous situation avoidance can be enhanced by using mHealth solutions. The present article proposes a cross-platform design of an integrated system using wearables devices as sensors, for monitoring the health condition, dangerous situations, and physical effort of worker during work time, with various user categories, emergency squads, medical care, ergonomist, management, and workers.

ABSTRACT

The traffic limitations and the rising cost and medical treatments availability, especially for anaesthesia and intensive therapy, due the pandemic of COVID-19, conducted to major changes in cost benefit estimation regarding the eCall service. The eCall is a public emergency service which automatically signalizes the data of a road accident, transmitting a Minimum Set of Data (MSD) to the nearest Public Safety Answering Point. The main benefit of the service is the severity injures reduction, by shortening the emergency forces dispatching time and prevent feature possible accidents by signalising them using Traffic Management Centers. The eCall service is composed by an In Vehicle System, that is embedded on car system which send the MSD to the 112, being triggered manually or automatically. The paper presents the main changes over the costs and benefits estimation, imposed by pandemic situation, having the preliminary data available after the spring lockdown. The research is part of sAFE project actions. The current specialists' duration estimation of the current duration of the COVID pandemic is unclear, being considered at least two years.

ABSTRACT

The spread of pandemic of COVID-19 during the spring of 2020, imposed severe safety measures regarding face-to-face education activity all over the world. In Romania, on 16th of March 2020, the state of emergency was declared. The Romanian-American University (RAU) faced the need of rapid adoption of an exclusively on-line education information system, designed to be used during the face-to-face activity suspension. The paper presents the success planning key factors and the customizations made on the Microsoft 365 platform to ensure the full capability of managing users, groups, teams, schedules, meetings, and content for all didactic activities. Also, the system was used for the student evaluations for all exams, including the bachelor's and master' degree exams. Furthermore, the paper includes changes made in the education process management, including procedures, decisions, and control subsystems. The short time of customization and adoption was possible because of early efforts regarding cloudbased information systems usage in separate activities, which were integrated in the deployment phase.
